Our April Member of the Month is Ashley Davitt. She is coming up on her 13th year in the construction industry, and is now a Senior Engineer at ACCO Engineered Systems.
One of her favorite things about construction is seeing the finished project. As an engineer, the majority of her time is spent drawing and designing behind a computer, so when she is able to get out into the field and see what she has drawn being installed and operating is very rewarding to her. Apart from WiOPS, she is also a member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers). She currently lives in Seal Beach with her husband and two boys. Her hobbies include running, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.
From Ashley, “As a female in a very male dominated industry I am grateful there are organizations, such as WiOPS, that support and promote women in the Construction Industry. I have never felt at a disadvantage because I am female, but I can see where others might. Having a support system for women, especially those new to the industry, is invaluable.
