OFFICIAL UPDATEWomen in Construction Operations

March 18, 2020

WiOPS hopes our members and industry partners are keeping safe and healthy in these unprecedented times.  As you have seen since our last communication each passing hour has brought new measures to halt the advancement of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of  our families and communities.

In alignment with the current measures and directives in our WiOPS communities, and in the interest of our members safety and health, WiOPS would like to provide an update to our currently scheduled events.

Our first ever “Fairways and Fundraising Invitational” golf tournament is being postponed.  A new date will be published shortly.

The April Event scheduled in Southern California on April 29th in Pasadena, sponsored by Bluebeam, is now cancelled.

The Northern California event scheduled on that same day in April at CANVAS is cancelled.

We project continuation of these measures through April 30th, though rapidly evolving circumstances may necessitate a change in the timeline and conditions.  At this time the May events remain scheduled. We will update you on any change to that plan.

We would like to thank Bluebeam and CANVAS for their support of WiOPS and we look forward to a date and time when we can hold our rescheduled events.  We recognize the time and effort that they have put towards these events and appreciate their support of our decision to cancel in the best interest of our members.  Again, we appreciate our industry partners, our WiOPS members and their teams for understanding these decisions.

Until we see you again – stay safe and stay healthy.

Sincerely,

WiOPS

OFFICIAL STATEMENTWomen in Construction Operations

March 13, 2020

WiOPS continues to closely monitor the developing  impact of the COVID-19/Coronavirus locally, nationally and internationally.  The California Department of Public Health urges social distancing as a preventative measure.  Governor Newson has stated: “Changing our actions for a short period of time will save the life or one or more people you know…That’s the choice before us. Each of us has  extraordinary power to slow the  spread of this disease.”

The health, safety and well-being of our members, remains our highest concern and priority. After careful and considered deliberation, all Board of Directors of WiOPS are adopting the following protective measures to minimize vulnerability of our members.

The March events scheduled in Southern California on March 25 in both Irvine and Los Angeles, sponsored by Hensel Phelps, are canceled.

The Northern California event scheduled on the same day at ISEC is canceled.

We project continuation of these measures through March 31st, though  rapidly evolving circumstances may necessitate a change in timeline and conditions.  At this time the April events remain scheduled.  We will update you on any change to that plan.

We would like to thank Hensel Phelps an ISEC for their support of WiOPS and we look forward to a date and time when we can hold our rescheduled events.  We recognize the time and effort they have put towards the event and we appreciate their support of our decision to cancel as in the best interest of our members. To all our partners in the industry, to our WiOPS members and their teams, we appreciate your understanding of these decisions.

Sincerely,

WiOPS
