Please join us in thanking Hathaway Dinwiddie for hosting our “Building Construction’s Sustainability Legacy” event at their office in Downtown Los Angeles!

Upon arrival at their stunning offices, WiOPS members were offered a quick tour of their space and were able to view pictures of the breathtaking projects that they have performed throughout Southern California. Attendees then made their way over to cocktail hour, which featured an assortment of beer, wine, and food to enjoy. Members were able to network with both new and familiar faces before heading into the informational session regarding sustainability.

Jessie Buckmaster, Hathaway Dinwiddie’s Director of Sustainability, led the session and taught attendees about green building practices, how to maximize the efficiency of a building from construction all the way through the building’s lifecycle, and what our industry can be doing to build more sustainably. She gave everyone plenty of tips and resources to help find the information that is already available, and also shared suggestions on ways that our industry can improve. Some other topics of discussion were embodied carbon, global warming potential, the construction materials that have the biggest impact, manufacturers that are ahead of the game with investing in EPDs, and even some examples of net-neutral and net-positive buildings when it comes to water and electricity. We learned a great deal and look forward to the strides our industry makes to building better for a more sustainable future.

We wrapped up the evening with trivia and a question-and-answer session. We loved getting to hear some of the initial feedback on the event and are so glad that the topic was a huge hit. Thank you again to Hathaway Dinwiddie for such an incredible evening and for sharing your in-depth knowledge of green building with WiOPS and our members!
