Thank you ISEC!

WiOPS would like to thank ISEC for hosting our August “Work and Zen Can Be Synonymous” event at their office in La Palma! Upon arrival, members participated in a networking cocktail hour while enjoying refreshments and hand-prepared sushi by a local woman-owned catering company, BENTO WOMAN in Los Angeles. The food, drinks, and conversations were incredible, and the evening was off to an electric start!

After the networking portion, we enjoyed a panel-style discussion featuring ISEC employees holding numerous different positions within their company. WiOPS Treasurer Erin Lawless (Preconstruction Services Manager at ISEC) led the discussion between Daniella Sanches (Estimator II), Brittanye Plourde (PE II), Greg Timmerman (ISEC President), and Eileen Larance (Director of Organizational Development & Marketing Communications). Together, they did a deep-dive on many different aspects of working from home, hybrid work policies, and work/life balance. The panelists all shared their opinions on these topics, and helped give the attendees perspective on how we can be more ‘zen’ at work. They then opened up the floor and took questions from audience members, who were eager to share their own experiences and thoughts on working remotely.

To wrap up the evening, ISEC had a Zen Garden station where WiOPS members were able to select a beautifully crafted wood garden box, donated and made by Bryan & Ruby Murdock with Brooks Architectural Products. They then created their own Zen Garden by filling it with sand, crystals, shells, succulents, and more that they can keep on their desks and rake whenever they need a little bit of zen.

ISEC is a long-time supporter of WiOPS, and we’d like to thank them not only for supporting our organization, but also for their support of the women in our industry. Thank you, ISEC!
