Kirstin Harper-Smith

Join us in congratulating Kirstin Harper-Smith for being selected as our June 2022 Member of the Month! Kirstin is a Project Executive at Shawmut Design and Construction. She got her Civil Engineering Degree and decided that construction was the right path after completing internships at both construction management and design firms. She has been in the industry for 18 years, and enjoys the planning aspect of construction, which puts her engineering problem-solving skills to work. Her favorite things about construction are solving problems and seeing projects come to fruition. There are many “moving parts” that have to be creatively and effectively addressed at a fast-moving pace.

She values the people, networking, and training WiOPS offers. It allows people to learn new things about one another and the industry. Kirstin’s favorite WiOPS event was Speed Mentorship, where she met amazing women with similar yet different experiences.

A skill that Kirstin is currently working on is developing others. She wants to be able to help others hone in on their passions and develop their talents through lessons learned and her perspective. She recommends reading “Educated” by Tara Westover.
