Join us in celebrating our March 2026 WiOPS Member of the Month, Nancy Flores. Nancy is Precon/Estimating Coordinator Washington Iron Works, Inc.
She fell into construction. She started as a temp for a sub-contracting company. She knew nothing about the Construction Industry and had no work experience but was noticed for her work ethic and was hired full-time within a couple months by the VP of sales.
She loves that the construction industry is challenging and she learns something new every day. Reviewing blueprints and seeing something as an idea on drawings come to life is rewarding. Construction creates homes, schools, hospitals, jobs, which builds something that helps communities.
She values and is grateful to WiOPS for sharing knowledge, helping women build new relationships, building confidence, providing education through events and guest speakers, and finally the amazing women that she has met and bonded with through WiOPS!
Her advice to others in the industry would be to seek mentors, build communication, strive to advocate for yourself and become a good leader.
