Amanda is the Marketing Manager at McGuire and Hester. She has 14 years of experience in the construction industry.

When asked how she got into the construction industry she replied “In 2007, I accepted a temporary receptionist position at McGuire and Hester. A two-week commitment transitioned into a job offer that later became my career. I have had the privilege of working closely with many of the senior leaders in our company. Their mentorship had a significant impact on both my personal and career growth. I was encouraged to pursue my interest and education in marketing and in 2016 I received the promotion to Marketing Manager.”

Her favorite thing about construction is how it is so cool that this industry is steeped in tradition and at the same time advancements in technology are constantly challenging the status quo and helping us work towards environmental responsibility. Her favorite part is witnessing the impact their work has on others. “A well-designed and constructed project can literally transform an entire community.”

Amanda’s extracurricular activities include being a member of SMPS – Society of Marketing Professional Services, volunteering as a youth leader at her church, volunteering for outreach events that her company supports; two of her favorites are:  Salvation Army Garden Street Shelter and Girls Inc of the Island City – EUREKA! Program.

She is surrounded by people who inspire her. Her husband, her pastor, her mentors, her boss, her co-workers, have all been instrumental in her life. The common denominator among all of them is that they care. Teddy Roosevelt once said, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”

A random thought she’d like to share:
“If I could find a silver lining in the midst of this global pandemic it is that I value connection more than ever before. I love WiOPS because not only is it focused on developing women leaders in our industry, but also because it is simply fun!”
