Beyond Hard Hats and Hard Skills: The Emotional Intelligence Advantage for WIOPS Leaders

Success in construction depends not just on technical skill but on leadership behaviors that build trust, handle tough conversations, and elevate team performance.

This session shows how emotional intelligence strengthens communication, decision-making, and relationships in a high-pressure industry.

Through hands-on activities—including Karine Leblanc’s “24-Hour Emotions Exercise” and the “Good Boss / Bad Boss” experience—participants will rethink what makes leaders memorable and learn to become the kind people genuinely want to follow.

Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:

1. Recognize how emotional intelligence influences leadership effectiveness, communication, and decision-making in high-pressure environments.
2. Identify the leadership behaviors that build trust, engagement, and accountability on teams.
3. Apply practical emotional intelligence tools to strengthen influence, collaboration, and workplace relationships.
