Name: Dianna Wright
Company & Position: Rudolph and Sletten, Vice President, Business Development + Marketing
I have spent my entire career working for a general contractor. Right out of college, I joined McCarthy Construction as they first launched in Newport Beach, California. I was hungry to learn the business and got to wear many hats early in my career. My eagerness got me an invitation to sit in meetings where I was often the only female. I was a sponge for construction knowledge and discovered my life passion in this industry. I later joined Rudolph and Sletten and they relocated me to No. California. I discovered I had a talent being on the business development side and making people and relationship connections. Rudolph and Sletten really invests in their employees and pushes all of us to have integrity in our business dealings while always doing right for our clients and partners. As I start my 23rd year here, my role and perspective on winning new business has really expanded to build a strategy, putting the right teams in place while also understanding the financial terms and risk you need to agree upon to be a profitable company.
I have been a volunteer for the last 5 years with CASA in San Mateo County (Court Appointed Special Advocate) where I advocate and mentor a 16-year old boy in the foster care system. I’m an avid ice hockey enthusiast and only recently have to quit playing because of a shoulder injury.
Favorite thing about construction: We are a self-performing general contractor so I love going on project tours with our superintendents and listening to them talk about how they are really building the project with their crews. Their eyes light up with pride when they walk you around.

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.
