Our March 2018 Member of the Month is Whitney Craig. Of the last 8 years, Whitney has been in the elevator industry, the last 2 ½ has been at Otis Elevator. She started in the elevator field working for a family company as an estimator and developed her desire to take on major projects. Most recently, she was awarded lead PM on her biggest project yet with over 70 elevator and escalator units combined. Working at Otis Elevator, she feels fortunate to be working amongst the best field team and PMs in the elevator trade. She says of the elevator industry, “It has its ups and downs…” (her go to elevator joke). “The most difficult thing about construction is also what I love most. Once you think you have conquered your most difficult project yet, the next one teaches you otherwise. Every project brings new challenges that may test you at times, but in the end, you come out a stronger PM.”
In addition to WiOPS, Whitney is also involved with FORWARD, Otis’s women in the field operation resource group. For fun, she plays regularly in a women’s soccer league. She leaves us with this fun fact: the elevator ‘Door Close’ button is typically nonfunctional in normal operation. Next time you see a fellow elevator passenger aggressively pushing that button, you can pass that information along.
