WiOPS had a successful 2023 and we are looking forward to expanding our impact in 2024!
We were able to reach many industry professionals thanks to you. We held 29 events throughout SoCal and NorCal with over 2,500 members attending and gaining access to invaluable mentorship, networking, and education opportunities.
NorCal Chapter Accomplishments
WiOPS Northern California celebrated the chapter’s fifth anniversary in 2023, and continued to grow and evolve to best serve their members’ needs. A few key topics and goals they were able to focus on:
-“Imposter Syndrome” with Barbara Jackson
Barbara Jackson, industry visionary and founder of the women’s leadership bootcamps, spoke on Imposter Syndrome at an event hosted by Dome Construction and Standard Drywall, Inc.
-“Partnering Approach” with Sue Dyer
Attendees each received a free copy of the book “The Trusted Leader” and Sue Dyer spoke on the dynamics of trust and this event hosted by McGuire & Hester.
–2024 Goal Setting
Past and present Board Members met to address DEI burnout and set goals for 2024.
SoCal Chapter Accomplishments
WiOPS Southern California celebrated the chapter’s tenth anniversary in 2023, launched new initiatives to give their members skills and tools to benefit them both personally and professionally, and continued to grow their membership and maximize their impact. Some news and programs they are excited to offer:
–2nd Annual Women Working Together Collaboration
WWT has quickly become the place to connect with the “who’s who” in our industry, with representatives from AIA-LA, NAWIC LA, SEAOSC, and WiOPS attending the 2nd installment in August of 2023. This initiative was launched to connect women in architecture, engineering, and construction, and is looking to host two events in 2024.
–Focus Groups Program
The Focus Groups program aims to provide intimate small group settings for a more enriched experience. Topics thus far have included motherhood in construction, golf lessons, and more.
–2024 FMI Trainings
SoCal is hosting their first-ever leadership training course, specifically tailored to WiOPS members by FMI Consulting. This leadership training will be an interactive four-hour course focusing on the individual attendees, developing their leadership style and skill, and giving them tools they can apply to their jobs and use to advance their careers.
Governing Board Goals for 2024
The Governing Board is working diligently behind-the-scenes to support our chapters while also meeting with industry leaders and changemakers to have the most impact on the women in our industry. This year, we have lofty goals and welcome any feedback on how we can best support YOU.
–HIGHLIGHT our sponsors and supporters. WiOPS is a 501c3 non-profit organization ran entirely by volunteers, and supported by generous sponsors deserving of recognition.
–SHARE calendars and ensure members have access to events and training opportunities. Ensure our members can plan to attend events, and hold ourselves accountable to the pillars of WiOPS: Networking, Mentorship, and Education.
–LAUNCH the Baltimore Chapter after identifying key individuals to successfully lead them, and ensure they have the tools and support that they need.
–SURVEY both members and sponsors to ensure we are providing the best experience possible. We are always looking to grow and evolve!
