Company and Position: Webcor, Assistant Project Engineer
Congratulations to our November WiOPS NorCal Member of the Month, Emily Olson! Emily works for Webcor as an Assistant Project Engineer and has been working in the industry for 2 years where she loves being a part of transforming skylines and constantly learning new things. She lives in Pleasant Hill and enjoys playing volleyball, trying out new recipes, painting and visiting art museums. Emily grew up helping out her family’s construction company, but for some reason, she never considered it as a career for herself, instead, she studied pre-med. After undergrad, she moved abroad for a few years and did a lot of traveling which gave her the opportunity to see some really incredible buildings and cities around the world. That experience inspired Emily to go back to school to study urban planning. By accident or fate, on a visit to the Bay Area, she was offered a project support role at Webcor and found herself returning to the construction industry. In August, she moved to a role in operations and has enjoyed learning more about what it means to be a builder. As T.S. Elliot put it, “We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first time.”
